Built Up 2018 - present
In 2018, I started working with ceramics to explore sculpture again. Inspired by modernist expression in urban settings, I focused on reconsidering brutalist buildings. I adorned their surfaces with textile-inspired patterns, merging the rawness of concrete with abstract compositions. Textiles associated with the home infuse domesticity into these structures, I aimed to challenge perceptions and foster a connection between contrasting artistic forms. Through ceramics, I celebrated modernist spirit while emphasizing the vulnerability of brutalist architecture in the face of redevelopment, prompting viewers to appreciate their structure integrity and reflect on the evolving urban landscape.
